Today is a great day to highlight the amazingly fabulous items I discovered during my social media travels this week!
On Twitter, I stumbled upon a link to a great post by Pamela of Something Wagging This Way Comes. In her post titled When Ads are Good for Bloggers But Bad For Dogs, Pamela describes a pattern that some ad networks take part in: when a blogger writes a post about puppies, his/her chosen blog network will likely post ads for puppies that are for sale…and we all know what puppies that are for sale means! If a blogger writes about toy poodles, there is a good chance that an ad about toy poodles that are for sale will pop up. The defenseless creatures featured in these ads are most likely puppy mill dogs. As a blogger that has been very indecisive lately as to whether or not Life Embarked should feature ads, this post was a real eye-opener! Pamela’s post (and her entire blog, for that matter) is a must-read!
Thanks to Dogs N Pawz, I recently became a loyal Instagram follower of Paws for Life, a wonderful Instagram feed that I recommend all dog parents to follow! Paws for Life features pictures of animals from Edmond Animal Welfare of Edmond, OK, with the focus of getting every animal that is in need of a forever home all the exposure that they deserve! This idea is genius, and I hope all rescues and shelters follow in their footsteps!
If you know of any shelter/rescue that has an Instagram account, please let me know, and I will make sure to follow them!
Finally, on Pinterest, I spotted a quote that defines just how in tune our dogs are when it comes to reading other people:
Friends, don’t forget to follow Life Embarked on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Pinterest! And to the awesome individuals and organizations that I follow through social media, keep up the good work!! I am becoming a better dog parent because of you!
